If you’re still debating on whether or not to start digital scrapbooking, let me help you out! Here are 3 good reasons why you should give digital scrapbooking a try!

1. Time

Time is something I never have enough of, and scrapbooking (traditionally and digitally) takes time. If you stopped to think about all the time it takes to scrapbook traditionally, you’d be amazed! First, you need to go through you’re pictures, and edit and print each one. Then you get to go shopping! This part most of us enjoy! Then you go home, set it all up, along with all your photos and supplies and begin. Once you start creating there’s the never ending, cutting, gluing, punching, trimming, etc. The list just keeps going. Then comes the part we all dread; cleaning up! It usually would take quite some time for me to clean up, since I don’t have a room dedicated to scrapbooking.

Compare that to digital scrapbooking. You walk up to your computer, turn it on, surf the web for products, if you need them, download them into your digital scrapbooking program and begin. Then you can scrapbook right up until the last second, because with digital scrapbooking, there is no mess to clean up afterwards!

2. Convenience

Now, think back to the last time you scrapbooked traditionally. I’ll bet you were sitting at a large table covered in products, supplies and photos. Am I right to assume it was quite a mess? I would always get so bogged down by the clutter, I had a hard time getting creative!

Compare that to digital scrapbooking. Since all you need to digital scrapbook is a computer, you can do it anywhere! You could take your laptop on a plane and be squished in between 2 other passengers, and be scrapbooking! How convenient is that?! Or my favorite; I can be sitting in a clean room, at a clean desk with no messes in sight!

3. Money

Money is the main reason I originally switch over to digital scrapbooking. I was always making mistakes, and my trash cans were being filled with expensive products! I decided to try creating my scrapbook layouts on my computer first, hoping to eliminate some of this waste. I then discovered digital scrapbooking and decided to break it down and see how much money I really could save by scrapbooking digitally. Here is what I found:

Traditional (20 page 12x12 album)

$5 in sheet protectors (a box of 20 costs $10, and you’d only use 10 protectors)
$15 scrapbook album (that’s really good – most cost around $25-$30)
$0.50 in photo prints (that’s an average of $0.17 per picture and 3 pictures per page) $0.60 per background page (once again, that’s really good, most cost more)
$1.50 in embellishments & extra paper for framing photos (some pages more, some pages less)

Average of $72 per album (stamps, cutters, punches, glue, adhesives, scissors... and mistakes not included!)

Digital (20 page 12x12 album published in a hard bound book)

$44.00 for book publishing (Quote taken from Shutterfly.com on June 12, 2009)
$7 (Optional purchase of online digital scrapbooking products)
$11.99 Shipping & Handling
Average of $62.99 per digital scrapbook. And remember, that scrapbook is bound in a hard bound book, where you’ll never have to worry about photos and embellishments coming off the pages. And the pages aren’t so thick they take up at least a 2” binder.

Once I saw it broken down like this, there was no going back for me. And I’ve loved it ever since!

If you’re still not convinced, give it a try. I just know you’ll love it!
